Thinking about tuning your car’s ECU? Whether you’re going all-in with forced induction or just optimizing bolt-ons, here’s your checklist before you book your tune.
✅ ECU Platform Compatibility
Not all ECUs are created equal. For Hondas, that might mean a chipped P28 or an S300 install. Make sure your ECU is socketed and compatible with your tuner’s tools.
✅ Injectors & Fuel System
Tuning for a bigger turbo or more aggressive NA setup? Upgraded injectors are often required. You’ll also want to verify fuel pressure is stable and your pump is up to the task.
✅ Sensors Must Work
A tune is only as accurate as the data coming in. If your TPS, MAP, or wideband O2 sensor is faulty or inconsistent, you’re going to run into problems.
✅ Cooling & Reliability
Tuning adds stress. Ensure your cooling system is in top shape — clean radiator, no leaks, and the right thermostat. Running hot = pulling timing = losing power.
✅ Basemap or Stock?
Starting with a basemap lets your tuner work more efficiently. We offer P28 ECUs preloaded with a safe basemap that gets you to the dyno without surprises.
Final Word
ECU tuning is the heart of performance. When everything is prepped and logged correctly, the car comes alive. At Desert Edge Garage, we tune for drivability, reliability, and results — on the dyno and the street.
